Hey there...

so lots of people signed up in the original transport thread, so lets see if this thing could be put to use.

Nothing is finalized but who would be able to transport a small dog... the route would take him from South Florida to NYC...

Let me know if you could transport and/or keep him overnight if need be.

I wish I could help, I'm in the opposite direction.
I'll bump this thread up for you though.

I'm in Orlando, and can help with transport if needed. Let me know. I'm not sure that I could keep any dogs over night, but I could possibly help with the drive.

Worst thing is transportation for me is bad! I don't have a car, so it must be a pick up, I can't even meet anyone half way. But by the time transportation can be planned out I'll be even further away all the way down in Downtown Miami (moving out tomorrow morning, long story).

We're talking about Valentino. Not sure if its going to be by car, plane, or what. But I have no money. So he's up-to-date only up to his 2008 rabies & his puppy shots, still needs his one year booster, which was suppose to get them this month, but the event I went to this Saturday ran out of vaccines (my luck lately!!) and I had to wait till May for the next time, but I don't even have that much time and May is when hopefully I should sort all this out and be able to take him back. I wish I could help (money wise), but I'm selling my coach purses & dog carrier on CL, just so I have enough to eat in the meantime till I find a job, which that is the only thing positive thing going for me, I WILL have a job soon to where I can provide for myself & two dogs.

He's umm I'll say 8-10lbs? He is very good, loves to give kisses, but likes to get himself into trouble at times! Loves to play, but not too active and likes to watch tv even! Will make you laugh!

A lot of rescues come through Indianapolis .... I could overnight and do a short transport into Ohio . ( as long as there would be no DA with Ollie )

Just thought I post this as it may help give an idea of who's in the line of the transport. . .

Florida

Fransheska
Location: Miami, Fl
Distance willing to travel: depends on situation, maybe an hour or 2
Vehicle: Toyota Prius
Extra Crates: No
Pull from shelter: Yes
Hold overnight: yes, but dog must not be Dog, cat, or people aggresive!
Times Available: Weekends (friday night, saturday, sunday) my schedule really depends, some times during the week may be available
all of this depends on situation

~Jessie~
Location: Orlando, FL
Distance willing to travel: 2'ish hours in either direction
Vehicle: Acura TSX (mid sized sedan)
Extra Crates: Yes... I have a 36 inch crate
Pull from shelter: Possibly
Hold overnight: Depending on the size of the dog
Times Available: Mainly weekends... but I could do nights and random

Georgia

Kim (CharlieDog)
Location Georgia, down Newnan way
Distance 1 - 3 hours, any direction, including into Alabama
Vehicle Nissan 200SX 2 door coupe. It doesn't hold anything bigger than a small dog (15) pound crate really. The dog would have to be okay to ride loose or in a seat belt harness
Extra Crates Yes, Enzo doesn't use hers unless we're gone for longer than 8 hours. I have two medium and a large.
Pull From Shelter: Depends on the shelter, and if finacial aid is avaliable.
Hold Overnight Yes, depending on the dogs DA or DR though I can crate and rotate, Ozzy kicks up a fuss if strange dogs are here. He cal deal with it if need be.
Times Avaliable: Most days right now, as I am unemployed. I'm pretty flexible, but DH has a rigid schedule and so we'd have to work around that, since we've got the one car.

North Carolina

Jess
Location: Charlotte NC
Distance willing to travel: 2-3 Hours in all directions
Vehicle: Mitsubishi Galant
Extra Crates: No
Pull from shelter: Depends
Hold overnight: No
Times Available: Random

Izzy'sValkyrie
Location: North Carolina, RTP area
Distance willing to travel: 6 hours in all directions
Vehicle: Ford Taurus
Extra Crates: One crate available
Pull from shelter: Yes
Hold overnight: Can't unless it's one night
Times Available: Random, mostly weekends but Tuesday and Thursday are the best bet for this current semester.

Shadowfacedanes
Location: Concord, NC
Distance willing to travel: Anywhere in NC, possibly SC
Vehicle: *SEE BELOW
Extra Crates: Yes
Pull from shelter: Yes
Hold overnight: If absolutely necessary...would rather not though due to Corvus' DA.
Times Available: I work less than 20 hours a week right now. Those are the only hours I would not be available.
*I do not have reliable transportation for travel.

CorgiPower
Location: Greensboro, NC
Distance willing to travel: 3 hours
Vehicle: Cargo Van
Extra Crates: yes, 2 extras - one malinois size, one a little bigger than corgi size, subject to change as the malinois break them, but I hope to have more extras soon.
Pull from shelter: yes
Hold overnight: no
Times Available: random

Maya'sMom
Location: Mooresville, NC
Distance willing to travel: 3-4 hours (anywhere in NC though) but depending on the direction and the amount of notice I could possibly do more
Vehicle: My husband has a Ford Explorer, lots of room
Extra Crates: no
Pull from shelter: possibly
Hold overnight: No if the dog is DA. Possibly if not, but it would depend on the circumstances.
Times Available: Varies. With enough notice I can pretty much be available any day, otherwise it will depend.
I added myself to the map as well.

Tennessee

Renee
Location: Morristown, Tennessee (at the junction of I-40 and I-81, an hour +/- from Asheville, NC, Knoxville, TN, Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol TN/VA and the junction of I-75 and I-40
Distance willing to travel: Will vary with time and funds
Vehicle: 1985 BMW 318/Ford F-150 w/top
Extra Crates: I don't have any crates
Pull from shelter: Possibly
Hold overnight: Probably not - my dogs
Times Available: Flexible

Virginia

Lilavati
Location: Northern Virginia (DC metro Area)
Distance willing to travel: 2-4 hours, any direction
Vehicle: A Ford Mustang and an Eagle Talon. Small/Medium crates will fit in the Talon. Larger dogs need to have good enough manners to ride loose.
Extra Crates: A spare 36" airline crate in storage . . .won't fit assembled in my car, but people are free to borrow it.
Pull from shelter: Not if it involves making a misreprisentation. With the full knowledge of the shelter, sure.
Hold overnight: Yes, or longer in an emergency, so long as the dog is not DA
Times Available: For transport, weekends only, for hold overnight, it can probably be arranged at any time.

Caliterp07
Location: Alexandria, VA (Washington DCish)
Distance willing to travel: 2 hours any direction
Vehicle: Civic
Extra Crates: I don't have any crates
Pull from shelter: Possibly
Hold overnight: Under 30 lbs only
Times Available: Weekends, only with enough notice

New York

Poodlemommy
Location: NYC, NY
Distance willing to travel: 3ish

Pam111
Location: Buffalo, NY
Distance willing to travel: I'll say 3 hours each way, but it could be more or less depending on circumstances
Vehicle: Ford Taurus
Extra Crates: It is too big to fit in my car but I have a crate if I had to keep a dog here overnight or longer
Pull from shelter: Not unless it was worked out with the rescue because I would not be approved as an adopter since I rent and they'd have to call my landlord
Hold overnight: Yes
Times Available: This will vary quite a bit depending on whether I am in school and if my husband is working

Xpeanx
Location: East end of Long Island, New York
Distance willing to travel: 3-4 hours in any direction
Vehicle: Mustang

OK, what you need to do first is plan the route. Then break the route into 2 hour or so increments, starting about 8am and ending before dark, probably should end at 6pm.

Then put up the route and let people volunteer for the legs they can cover. Then you can work on the legs that are left.

:D
