Certainly a much more heartening ad than most on Craigslist, at least - they're being thoroughly honest about their dog's behaviour, and seem intent on finding an acceptable home.
You'd be amazed at how little they really eat, Romy, at least working lines. Consider that they are from an extremely impoverished area of Brazil. Meat was what was left on a carcass from the fazenda butchering (which wasn't much) or what the dogs caught on their own. Dogs who had to eat a lot didn't survive, let alone breed. The Fila, bred right, is a HARDY breed.

sorry I did recieve an email back from the owner. It stated she had bit a little girl in the face from a fear bite...that concerns me... It may never happen again, but I don't think I want to take the chance with my grandbaby.
I have no idea, but it's going to be the death of me, especially since most of the shelters that end up with them have NO freaking clue about how to home a Fila. They think a home with regular Mastiff experience is best, and it isn't. Terrier experience is great. Australian Shepherd people are another great choice, Giant Schnauzer, Airedale (Terrier), Great Pyr, etc. are a far better preparation for living with a Fila than an English Mastiff or even a Bull Mastiff. GSD, Doberman or even most Rottie people aren't normally a good choice because they are used to dogs who are more obedient.
