Sapphira came out to hunt, so I go some pretty decent pictures. I wish they were better photography-wise, but you can see her very well. Unfortunately I didn't get any of her eating.

She's totally starting to get her adult coloring! I'm excited.

She's also over 2.5 inches (legspan) now.

She was really thisty. She drinks off the walls now, but soon she'll be big enough for a bowl.

Her legs are longgggg

OH Hai, haz eksta legs fer creeeeepin.

Fransheska...to be honest I have NO IDEA.

I've never even handled her...and I've never "petted" a tarantula. Those hairs on their backs can get imbedded in your skin like fiberglass and cause itching and an allergic reaction. When they walk on you, their tootsies are soft....

I was thinking about handling her for the first time tonight. When she was younger she was way too jumpy/fast for me to do so.

The brown was probably a chilean rose hair. Veryyy docile and pretty much have the temperment of puppies.

Ohh, I like spiders! I had a huge brown tarantula that was an inhabitant at my work. Charlotte used to sit in front of my door and scare off soldiers...she was great.
I used to pick her up and remove her from the doors (automatic, I could only see her smashed in them) and I'm surprised I never got chomped. They do feel kind of itchy if you touch the actual hair though. Then again, I was "Ace Ventura" there - I had 3 deer, a brown bear "George", and 4 ducks - then Charlotte. :)

She's gorgeous! What do ya feed her?

Cool story :) A lot of tarantula species are very docile. You pretty much have to poke Sapphira in the face to even get her to do a threatening pose.

She eats small crickets right now. When she's full grown she'll probably get some superworms and roaches for variety...and maybe an occasional pinkie.
