The thing is the GENERAL PUBLIC is not full of common sense...
They may not KNOW ANY SERVICE DOGS! So they take what is told to them.
They may not KNOW what a service dogs daily routine is and so if someone TELLS them what it is, they take that as fact.
They do NOT KNOW the "procedure" for the life of a SD...so will basically take information that has been spoon fed to them...much like this article.
As for PB bans....again, the general public will take the path of least resistance...if you TELL THEM what to think the MAJORITY of them think it, it is much easier than researching and finding out the truth for themselves! And yup, it sounds harsh, but it is true...Hence why we have issues with BSL as it is. Ignorance is bliss....and if they aren't personally affected (in their minds) by whatever is going on, they just take what is given to them and continue on.
It is the same with:
BSL
Dog Shows
Service Dogs
Working Dogs
Misconceptions abound, but down right nasty untruths are more common as we continue down this road of governmental mettling (sp). It is a right to own my property....and now they are tailoring what property i can have, and what i have to do with that property....i dunno, i know i see my dogs as family, but they are technically property.
SIGH
Whatever is going to get PETA the most amount of attention is what they will do, because it will get posted everywhere and the average everyday joe blow will find some merit in it, and that is how they sway opinions...spoon feed them BS and they shall heed the call...
