NRA and I went to the tiny little dog show here in town. There are a few shows here in DSM each year, but this particular one is always smaller.

This sibe belongs to someone at out obedience club...

Red merle aussie...

Squee at the Brussels Griffon! I'm smitten with the smooth coats.

And that Pom is going to be an adorable little imp when it's out of that weird puppy coat stage:p

Crested...

Go go Power LOWCHEN!

Pet Berner at the show. I don't like it when people bring unentered dogs in, this one was lunging at other dogs.

REALLY happy Havanese puppy - he wouldn't even gait, he did zoomies so he had to be carried.

Another shot of the sibe, from my first post...

There are some GREAT dogs here!!

I love that black crested, TOO cute :)

Q about the dobe: Was that really the best one there? Or did the judge just have a different concept of what the best dobe looked like?

Well, the entry was pretty weak, but.....

... the judge apparently didn't care about dobes. He didn't even give the exhibitors time to stack their dogs - just waved them in, checked bites real quick, etc. I don't know why he treated dobes like that... he was VERY thorough with the boxers, the rottweilers, the danes...

I've never seen anything like it. The dobes ONLY were given time to stack when the judge was examining the bite - not before the exam, DURING the exam. Judge didn't even look at them when they were stacked.

But it's apparent he didn't look at them... he put THAT dog up for Breed, after all. ;)

Super pics :)

I must say (and I don't mean this as a negative comment, just my preference unrelated to the practice - that's a disclaimer by the way) that I really am not turned on by cropped dogs.... the more I see the less I like (we obv don't have them here, so I only see the pictures)....

Are danes cropped usually? Is that a standard? I knew some were, but you seem to see a mix? Do they need to be cropped to show?

I love the crestie... I do like their whole build. Nice deep chests, athletic looking dogs.. but not too slim like greyhounds.

Super pics! great to browse through!
That havanese pup is so cute, it's wee expression and everything!

Sure this guy is a sibe though? He looks more like a malamute to me, being quite heavy and his head is very big. :dunno: Gorgeous though!
Lastly... same sibe. :)

i actually quite like the cropped ears on the dobes/boxers/danes! Makes them look quite regal or summit! :p
