Hope they all thrive :)

Mom does look quite Labbie, but in that profile shot you can see the APBT in her. They should be extremely friendly and playful little monsters with that kind of genetic background!

Actually, there are quite a lot of shelters which adopt unaltered dogs. They often give a discount on altering later or ask for proof of altering within a certain amount of time, but not all even do that.
That is horrible! And people can just breed them if they want!

And unaltered animal and a Pregnant animal are two totally different things in my opinion... adopting out an unaltered animal and having someone sign a contract that they will alter the dog is one thing... allowing an inexperienced person to take home a pregnant dog is irresponsible... and then that person gets to sell the pups and profit from it?!
YES!!

So which of you has tracked down her address, called her neighbours and interogated her family to find out who is dog sitting? Or where the restaurant is? Maybe we should all take time off to personally take a puppy each and monitor it's progress.

Dog breeding... birth of ANY creature, large or small is not an exact science.

My hamster gave birth once.... Should I have not gone into school the next day?

Now people are throwing stones and making wild assumptions.... Now apparently this is her dog and she planned it all along! Maybe next we'll find out she's the bogey monster and EATS puppies.... Well... I think it, so it must be true, right.

When people lie, they trip and fall - it all comes out in the end without ANYONE having to squeeze it out.

And time will tell.

I am pretty sure bigdog will have it covered... and if she doesn't - then we have every right in the world to be unhappy, depending on your beliefs over newborns.

If it was me, I'd be sat in with them - because I'd want to watch them squirm about... but I know plenty of people who wouldn't... And would ensure they are safe for the oooooh.. hour? it takes to have a meal.
Exactly.

Good grief people....

I hope mom and the pups are doing well, and wish you luck in finding them their forever homes!

TY so much for allowing this dog to have a place to whelp, for giving her and her pups a chance.

new pic of BabyGirl and the puppies. She is hidden away in the bedroom in an open cage with one of my special comforters.

She prefers to be hand fed inside of the cage, and comes out only to potty. The other dogs can't bother her now. One or two of the pups that I thought were black are actually a darker brown, might be dark chocolate.

Be careful using bedding that can get wadded up like that comforter inside a crate. It is too easy for a puppy to get lost/caught in the bedding and also crushed by the bitch if it is hidden.

Much better to use some pieces of carpet cut to fit and then wrap the bedding around and under the carpet pieces so it can't get rolled up.

Next get some pieces of doweling and insert them about 4" from the floor and about 4" in from the sides of the crate. this will keep her from crushing a puppy against the sides of the crate.

Next take pieces of heavy cardboard and cut them to fit around the edges. Cut them about 8" tall. this will keep the puppies from getting caught in the crate wiring until they are bigger.

Depending on where you are and what the temp is in your home, you might also consider placing a light bulb near the edge of the crate (outside it) so the puppies have a heat source to go to if they want it.

I am doing the best I can. I think I have some stuff in the storage room that would work great here.

Another way to keep them warm is a heating pad UNDER part of the crate. The pups can move on or away from it. Works well if you have cold floors. Puppies need to be kept in an environment of about 80F when they are little. (if you are just going by air temp.. if you have a supplemental heat source of 90-100F then the air temp can be lower)

Did you know that 30% of puppies die before weaning? The majority of those deaths are
due to insufficient heat from an inconsistent heat source.
Chilling is the single greatest danger to the newborn. During the first week of life,
peripheral blood vessels do not have the capacity to constrict or retain heat. If the puppy's
body temperature falls below 95 degrees F, it can reduce metabolism and depress vital
functions.
Once a puppy becomes chilled, instinct tells the mother to reject it to avoid risk to the
others. The newborn becomes susceptible to infection, and can often (due to visceral
paralysis) become and ineffectual nurser.
Visceral Paralysis is paralysis of the soft organs of the body, and along with paralyzing
the esophagus, can also paralyze the stomach. When that happens, whatever milk that
may be in the stomach won't be able to digest and will sour. There are many problems
that can snowball into the loss of a puppy. A large part of those problems can be
prevented if the puppy's body temperature is kept from falling below 95 degrees F.
