How many have raised puppies/litters on raw here?

What about just like personal studies? Like websites from people who have been raising dogs on raw for years and what they have seen/how & what they feed, etc?

Red & Dekka, I have a book that outlines a meal plan for puppies, it consists of raw and a “mash.†If I were to type it out in a PM sometime this week to you, do you think you guys could look it over?

re: overfeeding/overnutrition, this is just about impossible on raw. Take a peek at the protein levels in dog foods. It is VERY hard to find one below 21%. Many are over 30%.

The only real difference is that puppies get 10% of their body weight and adults get around 2%. They can eat all the same foods.

Because my dogs are so teensy, I feed ground raw so they get all they need and RMBs. I've fed Titan raw since I got him at 7 weeks and he's doing wonderfully.

We feed a combo of holistic/organic kibble and raw. Sometimes in the same meal, sometimes not. Depends on what I have on hand and what I'm in the mood for. All of my dogs can go back and forth with no issues. If I notice softer stool, we only have to back off the veggie puree' and if firms right back up.

We have been feeding Wysong for over 12 years now and started to incorperate raw into their meals for the last 4 years.

Not sure what you mean by this. The typical whole prey model of raw is by dry weight much higher in protein than 25%. A raw diet is comparable with orijen or evo when it comes to protein levels.




I know of people who have been raising litters on raw for years. Their dogs (the ones that stay on raw) live much longer than the breed averages, stay 'young' longer, and seem to be over all much healthier. Now these breeders also do minimal to no vaccines too-not sure how much that helps as well.

If my guys get loose at all I take out the plant matter and they firm right up. If they get too firm then I add more organ meat and a little veggies. Fiber helps them move lol.

I had a cat in '94 and she was feed whiskas and raw somethimes, she was a feral cat when she was a tiny kitten and was a bit lean like the old style siamese, her coat was shinny, and soft.


We had her only for 2 years, she died poisoned with a lizard she ate. :/

I never had breed dogs, but the ones we owned where on kibble, well Oso the first years he was in some soups my mom made for him since dog food was really hard to find in that time here.

His fur never was too shiny but he eated pedigree , If I only knew back then.

If I happen to own another dog, I have planned on trying raw, since they only sell nasty food like dog chow, pedigree and the others tha are even worse, they don't sell the fancy premiun ones like blue buffalo or canidae anywhere.

The only less nasty ones are royal canine and pro plan , so I'm planning on trying raw mixed with kibble and depending on the results and ingridient avalible I could give only raw.

But I don't have an idea on how to make a balanced diet from scratch so I will need help from the forum members. when it happens.

I haven't bred a litter yet. But my girl will be on raw from the time I bring her home. I haven't quite decieded if shes going to be all raw or raw and kibble (something I will discuss with the breeder). I am a little nervous about feeding a puppy raw from the start but thats only cause I haven't been feeding raw for very long. It is going to be interesting to see the difference between her and growing on raw as a puppy than Ivan was as a puppy. It should be pretty easy to see any differences and to know that it is the raw and not the difference lines.
There are quite a few raw dal breeders out there, but I'm not sure who has been feeding it the longest.
