Parvo Booster Shot? WTH?

New strains of viruses are popping up all across the board. Viruses mutate....plain & simple.
However, NO VET can just vaccinate your dog without your permission and honestly, if your dog was current on vaccinations, I see no reason for the booster. That baffles me.
EDIT: And I want to add that even if there was a confirmed new strain, chances are it is not included in the current vaccine. So again, why? That's what I would ask.

a couple things. If its new a booster of the old stuff isn't going to do much. and Parvo is a disease of puppies. Unless the older dog has a severely weakened immune system their chances of parvo is pretty small. And if their immune system is that weak, will it be able to mount an effective immune response to a vaccine to give itself immunity??

My boss came to me like two days ago and asked me where i go to get my parvo boosters...
Im like, my dogs are all grown, did you get a new puppy? Wth?
Turns out hes getting parvo/somthing/somthing boosters for his adult dogs every year....
Vets need $$ I guess. You should see the vaccines they suggest for my indoor cats.

Most of the vets offices I have had any procedures done at require a current(most will accept within last 3 yrs) shot series.
What I found completely stupid was when my beagle was dying of cancer and had a giant tumor on her face they thought it would be a good time to vaccinate her. hello! She was dying anyway-was there a point of doing that?! that I was upset about.
Parvo is so rampant here I am not opposed to an occasional booster. We have had adult dogs with it-nothing like when pups have it but its still not fun.
