Twas the Night Before Christmas

Here it is again folks, time to print it off and post it everywhere!!!!!! And email to all friends, family and contacts.
Please lets sticky it and keep it on the main page. Hopefully people will understand that pups are not good gifts and Christmas to too stressful time of year to introduce a pup to a home. Not to mention no time to properly care for a little one.
AND the fact that the many rescues and shelters fill up after the glow has wore of with that gift.

Twas the night before Christmas,
and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
the stockings were hung by the chimeny with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
With nary a thought of the dog in their heads.
And mamma in her kerchief and I in my cap,
Knew he was cold, but who cared about that?

When out on the lawn there rose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
The dog must be loose; he's into the trash!

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Santa Claus with eyes full of tears.

He unchained the dog, once so lively and quick,
Last year's Christmas gift, now thin and sick.
More rapid than eagles, he called the dogs name,
And the dog went right to him, despite all his pain.
Now DASHER, Now DANCER, Now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On COMET on CUPID on DONNER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!!
Let's find him a home where he'll be loved by all!!

I knew in an instant there were not gifts this year.
For Santa had made our mistake very clear.
The gift of a dog is not just for the season,
We had gotten a pup for all the wrong reasons.

In our haste to think of a gift for the kids,
There was something important that we had missed.
A dog should be family, and cared for the same.
You don't give a gift, then put it on a chain.

And I heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight,
"YOU WERE NOT GIVEN A GIFT!! YOU WERE GIVEN A LIFE."

It's right to research first but i dont think that all pet stores are backing up puppymills.. There maybe some but not all of them, that's why it's also important to research the company before you purchase anything from them.

With the exception of pet stores that showcase dogs from local rescues (we have one that does that), I will never purchase anything from a pet store that sells puppies. Whether they are from mills or just BYB, the puppies are not from responsible breeders. Why? Because NO good breeder would let their puppies be sold through a store to anybody who is willing to fork over the cash. We practically had to reveal our lives to the breeder we got our Bedlington from before she would relinquish one of the puppies to us. Then received cards and letters from her for the next 18 years (even after the dog had passed away), until the woman herself died. Good breeders evaluate the potential home, offer advice, and stay in touch. They don't say, "That'll be $1500, thanks".

BB ^^^^ absolutely agree. No ethical breeder would ever sell their pups to a pet store.

Not to mention that petstores tell people what they want to hear not the truth about a pup or the breed.
Many times the pups are taken from their dam at a very young age, general rule of thumb for pet stores is the younger the pup, the higher the price, the faster it sells.

Yup..... Sadly pet stores sell inferior BYB or Mill puppies that often are sick, for often times more than you could get a pup from an ethical breeder for But then again an ethical breeder is not going to give you that impulse/ instant satisfaction all the while telling you what a perfect pet *insert breed* will make either
