My husband took Strider for a walk this morning because I couldn't do the stairs today....and decided that despite me telling him 1 MILLION TIMES to NEVER LET HIM OFF LEASH...he did.

Everybody please pray that he is found safely. I'm so scared for my dog. :( He's out there looking right now, and my cousin came out to help.

Oh my gosh. I'm sending good vibes for you and Strider. That's the scariest thing, not knowing where your dog is. :(

OMG! Sending good finding vibes! And prayers too! STRYDER COME HOME!!!!

This is my biggest fear leaving Orson in anyone's care but my own........I know Kevin would let him off leash or out in the side yard in a heartbeat without me around to nag

Ohhhhhhhhhhh dear lord.. Call NBRF and let them so they will tell you who to contact to look for him.
* call the local HS or shelters.
* call the Police- in case " running at large" they know its a missing pet.
* if you live near a national or state park, call the rangers office also..
If he is not back by tonight- place a bowl of water at any open door. When I lost one, we left the screen porch door open all night and he showed up.
And- few people realize how serious is is to never let a sighthound off lead.. Its okay and Strider is in our prayers for a safe return. Pm or call me if you wish.

And contact ALL of the local veterinary offices!

Thank you- I knew I forgot one.. Most people do not know what a borzoi is- so you will have to describe it as a long haired greyhound or a very tall collie..

Where you lost him, in a happy normal voice ( watch the stress in your voice) keep calling whatever is the code word.. In my house it would be " coooooookies".. etc.. Another thing that works is that if he loves the car, get the car and drive and stop and say " CAR"... Sighthounds go on a chase fast.
( prays- come back Strider- come back..)

Oh I am so sorry. I will keep as many STRIDER COME HOME vibes as I can, along with dontkillthestupideffinghusband vibes as well.

I would be in a complete rage if I were in your shoes!

I was hoping that there was a "found Strider" post somewhere in here. I know the feeling of panic--Strider come home now!

A sighthound bolt happens sooooooo fast..I had one go over a 6 foot fence like it wasn't even there... Granted that boy had problems but still. People think because the breed is so complying most of the time, they have control. Lulled into thinking they can turn off thousands of years to chase... ( uhhhhh wrong..)
Romy- replied back in pm. And tried to call.

One of the vet clinics just called and he is there! And he's safe! They're bringing him back to their house because they live behind our apartments, so I can pick him up in 10 minutes.

Oh man, thank you everybody. And borzoimom, sorry about the wrong phone number.:eek: I was so flustered I typed my my parents number instead of ours. I guess my brain kind of defaulted to that since it was my number forever. Thank you!!!! ***hugs****

Oh thank goodness he's safe and sound! I just saw this thread, and I was really hoping the second page would yield a happy ending!
