Does anyone have any ideas for a new trick train off?

I have been thinking of a few lately... let me know if any of these sound like fun! :D

- Moonwalking
I have been wanting to teach my dogs this FOREVER. The thing is, I'm not sure what would qualify as "moonwalking". I usually say they're moonwalking when they scratch the ground/walk backwards after peeing. But, "moonwalking" could also be backing up in a bow. Thoughts?

- Finding specific objects by name
The dog would have to retrieve various toys from a pile by name. Alternatively, the dog could be taught to identify items of different colors or shapes. Or, they could find/bring household items.

- Balancing
Dogs who already have target training might have an advantage here, but I think it would be cool to teach our dogs to hit a "mark", on something that they have to balance on... a pumpkin, perhaps, to keep with the season? haha

-Roll themselves up in a blanket/towel
This one would definitely be a challenge.

Anyone?

I really like the retrieve specific objects by name/ shape/size.

Whatever we go with, I think it's certainly time for Trick Train Off 4

Thanks for getting the wheel moving:)

I like the specific names one, probably won't get a retrieve but it'll be fun to try! This'll give me something to do with Frodo...

Yay! It sounds like the specific objects one is a winner. ; D I might attempt to teach the moonwalk just for my own amusement, though. aha! Would you guys rather just choose your own items, or have some criteria for them (ie, should we do just objects, just colors, just toys, or a free-for-all)? I would be fine with either. It would be really interesting to see what all everyone can get their dog to retrieve by name. (I know I'm doing the remote for sure...)

PW, I hear you!!! I will do my darndest, but I think getting Fozzie to retrieve ANYTHING, much less a specific item, will be an enormous feat. Gonzo will do practically anything for me, so he will probably be the only one participating. But you should post videos of your progress, regardless.

Im all for everyone choosing the criteria to match their own dogs current skill level. So when are we officially kicking the contest off- and how about three weeks to train it instead of two?

LOL, unfortunately I don't have the option of using one of the other dogs, they're all fetching duds. :lol-sign:
I'll post a video on the last day of Frodo saying "F*** u, layde. Gemmeh treetz!" because I'm sure that's where we'll be :p

I am going to give it a go though :D

I'll have a go at it, Buster's still learning to even pick things up but I've been lazy with training so I'll have a go.

Aww, jeez. Fetching is a weird skill. To some dogs, it is completely natural... my friend's BC puppy started fetching completely on her own. While others (*AHEM*brattcorgis*AHEM*) you have to fight tooth and nail - literally. :p hehe

And, if you got a video of Frodo saying "F*** u, layde. Gemmeh treetz!" you win automatically! I'm sure he will mop the floor with Fozzie. Good luck!

I'll make a post about it now!

I think it's a good idea to give 3 weeks of time to train. :) It can be a pretty complex set of commands.
