While Izzy and I were out bike riding today (well, technically only one of us was riding a bike, lol), we were coming out of an alleyway when a young, college age couple was walking by and this conversation ensued while I was waiting to cross the road...

Girl: *squee* That's so ceyuuute!

Izzy: petmepetmepetmepetme! *wiggles butt*

Girl: What kind of dog is it?

Guy: It's a Lhasa Apso.

Me: o_O Ugh, actually she's a corgi.

Girl: She's ceyuuute!

Izzy: That's right woman, now PET ME!!

Guy: But I've seen this before, they're mixed with two dogs right?

Me: Er...no. *smiles so as not to seem like a bitch*

And then they walked away and we continued our ride.

So this far I've had Yorkie, Shetland Sheepdog, Dachshund, Lhasa Apso, and the ever popular "Queen's dog."

*le sigh*

Seriously, HBH? *make notes*

PW: wow, someone doesn't know their dogs AT ALL. At least "Queen's Dogs" means the person paid enough attention to know what they looked like to ID one again.

I know people can be very un breed savy. But GSD's and lhasos are so common, most people have no problem pointing them out.

Blaze has been a German shepherd (on many occasions, one lady even argued with me for over 10mins on him being a GSD) A border collie (ok I can take that, its half correct atleast they got "collie" in there lol) I know there is another, but I cant think of it.

And also, a....fox. Some one actually yelled at me for owning a pet fox once. Telling me it was cruel, and I should not have it offleash. uhhh....ok....

Someone told me my Chihuahua/Rat terrier mix mix was a purebred "Deer Chihuahua". I said.."Oh..no hes a mutt" (Without going into detail that there is no such thing as a deer chihuahua. And this person continued to try and correct me and tell me he was purebred. lol. That NEVER happens. Usually someone has an obvious mix breed (Whether it be a designer mutt, or a mutt someone was told was purebred) and I try to tell them its a mixed breed, and they fight about it like it HAS to be a purebred or they have to get rid of it or something. But never the other way around lol!

I was at the vet one day, and this lady had an Australian cattle dog puppy (Clearly an ACD), and I said "Oh how cute. How old is your cattle dog?". She said "Hes not a cattled dog, hes an Australian shepherd.". I asked her who told her it was an aussie.."The vet". I told her a little about her dog, and said I know for a fact this dog is an ACD, and described Aussies (And the fact they have different coats, no tails, their ears are not erect and shorthaired). This dog was mainly white with tan spotting.. A lady sitting next to her butted in and said "No, Aussies can have short hair like that, and their ears stick up.". I continued on..and finally decided to look in some of the dog fancy magazines and found an Aussie picture (Which luckily had some puppy pics) and showed her and she finally agreed her dog was an ACD not an shorthaired, erect eared, un-docked aussie. And I could see the pissed off look of the lady next to her (Who had some JRT mix looking dogs with her).

LMFAO!!!

Lhasa Apso? Whaaat? If she was even long-haired, maybe, maybe I could let it go. But it sounds like he was basically naming a dog breed out of his AZZ. That makes about as much sense as the girl at the dog park who vehemently insisted that Fozzie was a "wolf puppy" - yes, really!

People are really amusing, sometimes. I remember trying & failing to supress my laughter when this lady continuously called Fozzie a "COR-JAI". Over and over. It was just really hilarious.

Queen Elizabeth II has fugly Corgis? Do tell!

ROFL!

That's almost as bad as the people who insist Strider is a Bozo. I mean he is, but that's not what breed he is. :rofl1:

I've gotten everything under the sun regarding Bamm's breed... including pit mix... take a good look at my siggy guys... he looks nothing of the sort... oh and I've gotten wolf, fox, coyote, husky, GSD... I had a guy argue that my dog was pure GSD and he didn't understand why I wasn't showing him and breeding him... I wanted to spit in this guy's face.

I get "cor-gee" a LOT. LOL.

I think only once or twice anyone knew Regis was a Cardigan. Usually it's a "corgi with a tail". I get Husky & Australian Shepherd a lot! A lady one time told ME that Regis was an Aussie mix, and that I was incorrect. ??? lol

Heehee! Congrats on owning the world's most out-of-standard Lhasa! *applause*

Voodoo was called a boxer once. But that still doesn't beat the one where someone thought my ferret was a long-haired chihuahua. :rofl1:

Well, its going to happen more now probably, as Animal Planet aired a "Dogs 101" show last night featuring Corgis as one of the breeds they talked about, and made a big deal about them being the Queen's dogs. I don't know what else they said as I only caught the tail end of it where they were recapping the breeds the discussed.

I think one of the funniest breed guesses I've heard is when I was walking Fang the Neapolitan Mastiff at FOHA and a woman asked me if he was a greyhound.

well ruby is a poodle whos had her hair straightend (which i can understand some funny guesses with her because of the nature of crestie publicity)...but i did have one "thats an olde english sheepdog puppy in a funny hair cut" mostly tis poodle though! and if i correct them i usually get arguments.

vixie and doger are:
pappillions, pomeranians, and "foxes" (though vixie does look like a tiny fox)
i actually had town ac come round not long after getting vixie because someone made a complaint that i was keeping foxes...

the nice part was i had a fox cub in rehab (im lisenced vector lol) and could not only show my lisence but compare the 2 side by side:D
