Awww poor baby, I have 2 that hate thunder storms also. Normally the storms move through during the night when I'm sleeping. So one tries to burrow under the blankets and the other tries to sit on my head...lol...

They are getting better though, they don't get as scared any more though.

My Bear used to find the exact center of the house - as far away from windows as possible - when there was a storm. It's hard to watch them be so afraid of something and not be able to make it stop.

Yea it is.. She gets so worried.. Sometimes turning on the music, and dancing around a little helps- sometimes it doesnt. Oddly enough she only goes into bathrooms or tries to get in the basement only in storms. No other time.
Last year she had a hard time in hunting season too. You could hear the gun fire up on the mountain, and one shot is all it took to get her to run in the house, and head for the basement.

YOU should try the pressure point/ t-touch massage when it is NOT a boomer. Do it daily. THen when one does come you can use your key words, (whatever you say during the massage) to calm them down. I believe it will work. EVentually they will learn to not fear the storm but to look forward to the massage...and even if you can't get to a place where you can do that, the words will start the calming process. Deeper breathing, release of panic.

Thank you.. Since femka is low thyroid and subject to crashes, my vet is hesitant to giving drugs to help her. If a hurricane hit us badly- I am not sure how well she would do... Poor little girl- she hides and shakes.
