I got a call from Iffie's owner today. Iffie (Redyre Choice of a Lifetime) has normal elbows and excellent hips on her OFA prelims.

I am still waiting on the results from Mike and Milton.

So far we are 2 for 2, with Ruger also Normal/Excellent.

Thank you all, I am SO EXCITED!!! This health testing stuff, and ESPECIALLY the elbows, are so important to the progression of my breeding program.

I am SO happy for the owners of these nice young dogs, and for the stud dog owner. Shaka is producing a high percentage of normal elbowed progeny.

I now know that I have at least TWO dogs to move forward with from this litter who not only have normal elbows, but EXCELLENT hips! (YES they will be redone at 24 months, but I don't expect anything to change between now and then).

I am on pins and needles waiting for Mike and Milt's results.

Yes, she will CD, but it might be a day or so before it does.

Isn't that a cool site? I spend a lot of time there. :D

I wouldnt be surprised to hear that all of these pups come out with good hips and elbows. Sounds like its going great so far.

I had a chow mix who had very bad hips. One of the worst things I've seen. Just walking too much durring the day would cause his leg to come out of place, making him unable to use his leg. Very painful and sad to see. :(

Reggin, there will almost certainly be some dogs in this litter who have Grade 1 DJD elbows. However, having at LEAST 2 dogs with normal elbows to move forward with is an improvement for me.

:D

I am still clicking that cursed OFA website many times a day to see when Iffie's results go up. As of Friday they had not gotten my films yet. Once they do it will be very fast since they are only looked at by Keller, they don't send prelims out.

:)

ACK! Iffie's owner called me today, and she is GOOD in the hips, not excellent. We will take the Good hips, and the normal elbows, and be thankful for it.

Congratulations on your breeding success thus far and thanks for your honesty. Breeding is always a roll of the dice no matter how careful you are. It's nice to be honest about our inability to produce 100% perfect puppies in every litter. Still, I'll keep my fingers crossed for all normal elbows :)

Well, you should be proud then, and I am sure you are!

I'll have my fingers crossed for mike and milt.
