Ok you have long haired whippets, and Whippets of long haired descent (WLD) and CKC/AKC whippets. The difference is that the genes that make the hair are recessive.
So you breed a LHW to a (ch) AKC/CKC whippet you get WLD. They have more hair than your typical KC whippet (but those can have fringing too). If you cross a WLD and LHW you get mostly LHW. Both LHW and WLD are registered with the LHW club. The WLD are very important in the breeding program. It is important to bring in new genes in the form of top KC whippets.
The little brindle pup (mark took that pic-I was off buying 100s of pounds of raw) was the only survivor of a premature litter.
