I was supposed to die today...

the ACO said it was my future. He looked sad as he told me how many strays had been coming in and how there just aren't enough homes for all of us pups.

The shelter volunteer did not give up, though. She posted pictures of me and my friends on CL and she hoped someone would reach out and take us in. Our time was running short, we had an euthanasia date set.. it was all a waiting game.... we were supposed to die today.

That's where Foster Lady comes in to the picture. She likes to look through CL because sometimes, she says, she finds stories that are truly heartbreaking and she likes to help. When Foster Lady found out about me and my friends, she said she had to do something! So she emailed the volunteer and said, I'll take one! Foster Lady had to talk Foster Man into it, but Foster Lady says he's a sucker for her and would have said okay anyways.





So here I am. Honorary Aunt Jess named me, my name is Anaya, which means "god answered". Sometimes, God does answer prayers, because here I am, when I was supposed to die today...

Edit to add: I'm glad you saved her. In that picture it's like her eyes say SO much. In a way I hope you do keep her, or another chazzer adopts her, as she strikes me as a very special girl. If I were in a different situation, I'd be clamoring for this one, as she's grabbed me from just this one picture!

Well, incidentally enough, she was not our first choice. We ended up listing in order, the dogs we thought we might want to foster and she was towards the end of the list. When it came down to it, though, our other choices had places to go and I wanted to take a dog from the urgent list, so I said we'd take her.

And just as the OP said, I was browsing CL like I do, to drive myself nuts, lol, and I found the ad. Something just told me I had to, so I am.

She is VERY sweet. Loves to cuddle. Is still shy and getting adjusted, though. Very curious as well, but she is in quarantine as she has a RI and I don't want her spreading it to the other dogs.

Oh I so relate to that part! That's how Wilson got here! I am glad you are able to do something...she looks like a real sweetheart!

She's soooooooooo adorable!. By the expression of her eyes, I'd say she KNOWS you're her angel that saved her.

She is a big sweetheart. She just melts. She's definitely been a mom before. When I take her in to the vet her for her check up, I am going to ask how old he thinks she is. I can't wait until she can meet the other dogs.
