OMG A Breeding in a middle of a show

I went to a dog show today, and I can't belive what I just saw :yikes: OMG

You see, after they judged group V spitz the winner was a male chow chow (wish I can say it is a beautifull dog ) I went to the bathroom.

The ladies bathroom is in a hidden corridor of that building so I went to the bathroom and when I came out returning to to the show area outside of the ladies room they where 3 handlers breeding a pair of chow chow :yikes:

And guess what? the male IS THE GROUP WINNER , do you think this is too odd?

If I where a breeder I would't breed my do IN A MIDDLE OF A SHOW, why they at least wait to the show end and go to a more private place??

It was the first time I saw that male chow so he problably is a visitor from other country, but I have seen the persons that have the female chow before, they are some breeders that make many adds in the newspaper and have huskies, rottweilers and chows, they also have a petshop.

So don't you guys belive is just TOO SUSPICIUOS after the male chow won the group this guys went to a hidden area and breed it to they bitch??

I not sure but if I have beein traumataized by the histories of what some corrupt breeders do and I'm too suspisius of people but it almost look like this guys talked to the handler of the male chow and since he was the group winner they went to that hidden area and payed him to not to talk to the owner of the male chow about the breeding and when the puppies born, they just put one of the dogs they have as the father of the litter when it really is another dog.

There was a lady in the public that had a female beagle in a dress and all the male dogs where very interested in her mostly a boxer.

The owner was talking later to the people that had male beagles, but she appeared to be a honest person, at least I didn't saw if they went to a hidden area

Bitches in season are COMMONPLACE at dog shows. Everyone shows bitches in season, it is expected. One does observe common courtesies by waiting in a discreet area away from male dogs, and informing exhibitors with male dogs that your bitch is in season so that they are informed.

I have no real comment on the breeding, except that yes, I would think it would be arranged in a different area after show hours.

I am not sure if there are different rules in Honduras but in all the other countries that I am familiar with it is perfectly acceptable to show an in-season bitch in conformation dog shows. It is also very common for the owner of an in-season bitch to bring her to a show to get together with the stud for a (pre-arranged) breeding. This is especially true when the stud is being shown by a professional handler as the stud will be constantly travelling from place to place and you need a set meeting location. These breedings normally take place after hours in a more private and relaxed setting though.

It doesn't sound shady, no. Maybe tacky but not anything that isn't done regularly. If that stud is from out of the area then they took what opportunity they had.

Is just that I was too surprised to see that and got suspicious, mostly when the workers at my father's farm use his most beautifull bull to breed to they own cows when my father isn't there :yikes:

If the dog is nice enough to take group placements, again not a surprise they want to use him.

People often have different morals when it comes to studding a dog vs breeding their bitches.

As for breeding a dog and registering the pups under another stud, maybe people do that but if that stud is so nice they want his name behind the pups. Plus, someone who is willing to stand behind their word can challenge the litter and force a DNA test. However, your money is where your mouth is and if the litter is correct you have to pay for the testing done.

I agree with Icyhound. Tacky yes. But lets say you want to do a live breeding to a stud 4000miles away. But hes on the show curciut. Well I know if I had the chance if I was closer I would do it at a show. After both dogs are done in the ring and in a discreet place.

I agree with the flexibility for a traveling stud scenario, but what I still find sketchy about this particular situation is the bitch's owners being known millers (or damned close to it, from the sounds of it). No stud owner I know worth their salt will approve a breeding like that, as their dog's name will be 50% tied to the crappy litter that will likely result. Especially since hired handlers were the only ones present in the empty corridor. The owners theoretically may not have been at the show, but . . .

Also seen different. Lot of nice titled boys getting bred to girls without titles, without health testing. Lot of people don't care.. and use it as a money maker.

Lot of breeders do care.. but a whole lot also don't.

It happens. . Tacky, yes, but typical.

Agreed, happens at shows and is generally pre planned, although most people keep it a little more discreet. Hotel rooms for one lol.

OH no, the famous one I heard from a neighbors kids was **crying** Mommy, the dogs are stuck together, are they going to stay like that?!

are those "pay by the hour" hotel rooms?? or do you spoil them and spring for the lush 4 star hotel room?

Actually in all seriousness, with the outrageous cost of flying a dog these days and the fact that it's now cargo. It wouldn't surprise me if we see more of these kinds of breedings taking place.
