some of you said you wanted to see what i am working on...as you can see big head do is driving me crazy. THe camera does distort some, it insn't THAT bad.

This is for Art unleashed a fund raiser for the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. THis will be my 6th year of donating and between me and Victor we have raised nearly 3 thousand dollars. I think..i will have to add it up sometime. Hoping this works out and doesn't end up being a next year project. IF it does, i have a few other pieces i can give them.
The dogs are to slide over a pole so that each one sits on top of the next one until it makes a 5 ft totem pole.

when the whole thing is finished i will come back..this is just "in the works: and my big head dog's head is much better now. The eyes are smaller and further apart. and i added much to the structure around the muzzle. This takes so long and the clay doens't give you a long time. I meant to have this finished 2 days ago.:( and be on to dog three.

all pieces go on a pole all will be sold as one sculpture for ARt Unleashed the proceeds going to the Humane society of Greater Kansas City. My number one cause. Three artists Kelly Walsh, Susan Speck and I are doing this together.

I couldn't put the hole in his head until my son came over to hold teh broomstick good and level while i held the dog over it and slowly lowered it down until i could see the buldge from the top of the pole and knew where to cut the hole.

I am very frustrated. THe other two artists have not done as much as i thought they would. I have made three, and that is only half the pole. THis may be next years donation.:(:(:( THere is only 20 days left and it would take half of that at least for drying time and firing time. I can donate Mad rabbit or scardy cat...and some of my paws line of jewlery, but it won't be the same. STill trying but not getting my hopes up. IF i spend anymore time on this i won't have my fall inventory to have for Hy and i to winter over on. THe good thing is if it does end up being next years i will have more time to make sure each piece fits as i think it should. I don't think any of us thought this out clearly from the beginning..it sounded much easier then it is.

i think they are just not thinking seriously about the time factor. I have made a nice set of canine inspired jewerly for people. The curled dog beads, small tiles that for a bead with dog images, and my pride string of smoked beads with paw prints. THat and a mad rabbit or so should bring a decent donation. But i would like to do the totem so i haven't given up, just getting really worried about the time factor.

The problem with spacers, that is what the other susan is suppose to be working on, she made a 4 inch ball, and some bones that are around 6 inches long and and inch in diameter. Picture trying to do a dog that will sit on a bone and maybe you can see where i am having a problem. Sort of like having a dog sit pretty on a rope. I saw that once on David Letterman was most impressed. ONce the pieces get smaller then yeah that might work but i am still down at the bottom to first half. ANd it is too small for there so those dogs must sit on top of each other. Kelly's one piece...(and this group project was her idea) has done one weimer laying on a ball. THat will go on anything that doesn't have ears in the way. So i will plan on at least one ears down kind of dog. IT is very confusing.
