Innova vs Harvest Blend

I have Ailey on Innova and her trainer sells Harvest Blend... whats the pros and cons etc... whats your opinion, should I switch, is one better than the other?:confused:

If Ailey is doing well on Innova and you're not comfortable switching, don't. But, looking at the ingredients list, it does look like a nice food. If it's more cost effective, easy to get and you don't mind trying a new food for Ailey, I don't see any reason why not.

IMO, Innova is a slightly superior food. If you're facing issues with constipation, you can either let nature run it's course and let her body self-regulate, or you can add plain canned pumpkin to her diet. Just a spoonful each feeding regulates nicely.

Though if it's an all the time thing, wouldn't it be easier to switch brands instead of mucking about with the pumpkin everytime? Especially since it is still good?

well, if constipation is chronic, it would be more indicative of a systemic problem than a dietary issue.

How does she seem constipated? And how long has she been on the Innova?

I can't find an ingredients list right off the bat, but if it seems like a decent food and not just something your trainer is pushing you to buy just because she sells it, switch for a bag or two and see if there is a difference.

Well she seems to not get it every bowel movement but its happened 3 times in the last month, poor thing crys when she is pooing.

Well, perhaps... but on the other hand, if health is otherwise great, I guess I'd be more amenable to sticking with an awesome food and occasionally supplementing pumpkin than going with a potentially inferior brand and subjecting the dog to the digestive upset of a diet change.

Innova isn't the only awesome food out there. There are several. ;) You yourself said that Innova is only SLIGHTLY superior to Harvest Blend. If you go about switching food over correctly, there is very little stomach upset. My Aussie has never let me switch him over "correctly" he will just pick out the new stuff after a couple days. He has a sensitive tummy too. I had my Doberman on Innova and I am in the process of switching her off of it. It's a little bit TOO good for her. Not all dogs thrive on the same foods. There is no one perfect food for EVERY dog.

Oh, I understand that no one food is mana from heaven... I'm an independent nutritional consultant, for the time being, and preach that day in and day out. Innova IS, however, in the upper echelon of super premium commercial foods, and I would rather the OP moved laterally rather than backwards. Perchance switching to Orijen, Nature's Variety/Prairie, etc.

I've just switched from Canidae to Innova EVO for Ozzy & Innova Puppy for Jagger. Ozzy had loose stools on & off for the first couple of days but seems to be doing well & since he's so finicky, I'm pleased to report, he's eating it without refusals.
