Finally, after a couple of months, I was able to convince my parents to "foster" Shelby for a while. She was returned to my friend/breeder for no issues of her own a while back (previous owner was having other problems and didn't feel Shelby was getting the attention she needed, basically). Our friend would keep her herself as she adores her, but feels Shelby would be better off in a more family oriented home as her house is really busy and not the life Shelby deserves/is happiest in. She is one of the sweetest dogs I know, and I really want to be able to keep her. So I'm hoping that by fostering her for a while, my parents will fall in love with her as much as I am and decided she's a keeper. Her temperament is amazing - I don't think there are many people in this world who wouldn't love her. Anyway, here are a few pictures:

Here's hoping my plan works out! If not, she'll definitely find a good forever home sometime. Whether it be with our friend/breeder, or other friends of hers.

Oooooooooh. It must be new/used Doberman week on Chaz.:lol-sign: She is a cutie. This is a much better week for the Dobergirls than last week was for the Doberguys. :p

She's wonderful!

Ya know, that's how my friend got her two champion dobes (Mia and Hunter) - they agreed to provide a "retirement home" for them after they'd finished... sometimes a breeder's house is too hectic and busy for the older dogs.

That's also how I *almost* got Rumors sister Sunny. I took care of her for about 6 months, and I knew that she'd stay forever unless her breeder said something. Eventually she asked me if I wanted to bring her back - notice she didn't ask FOR her back. but basically asked me if I wanted to keep her. I kind of wish I would have said yes, but finding somewhere to live with three dobes on a college student's budget would have been (and still is) too hard right now.

I hope you get to keep Shelby!!!

You should have given her to me! She always seemed to have a much different personality than Rumor. I liked them both. Would have been neat to have them both together and see the differences.

WOW... you've got a full house now lol. She is a gorgeous dog. Do you have plans to slowly convince your parents to keep her or are you just wanting to find her another forever home?

Thanks everyone!

My plan is to have my parents decide to keep her eventually. I don't think it'll be too hard - temperament wise, she's like a female Winston. Keeping her also depends on how well she gets along with the other dogs. So far they like her, but Dance isn't as comfortable yet with her as I'd like her to be... but she hasn't been here very long yet.

Ideally I'd like her to be mostly my dog, and would like to take her with me when I move out in a couple of years (though I do know that it's going to be much harder to find a place to live with a Doberman, let alone just a Toller... but it's possible).

We'll see what happens. :)
