...as a Belgium Malamar? Someone is selling a litter of AKC registered ones for a few hundred bucks. But I check the AKC breed list and couldn't find them. I sure never heard of it. I am thinking they meant Belgian Malinois. Unless this is another mix breed but I don't know what it would be.

I see stuff like this all the time. :D They must mean Belgian Malinois. Wow, Belgium Malamar? I see chiwawas and shitsues, and dalmashuns all the time in the paper. Geeze. Just goes to show that most people know NOTHING about the breed of dogs they breed.....

Oh, and we almost got a german shepherd when i was a kid, but my dad thought twice after reading the ad. It was hand written (meaning it wasn't a typo) and it read:

German Shepherd Puppies for sell.
AKC pappers.

We ended up deciding to rescue a Siberian Husky instead. lol! :D

Speaking as someone who has placed ads in a paper (no, not for dogs), it's also possible they called the ad in. You can get some pretty interesting spellings from the editors. It's possible the person said Belgian Malinois, and the person taking the ad down assumed they heard correctly and didn't ask for spelling. Mmm. Beligium Mallowmar? Sounds decadent!

As for the handwritten ad, no excuses for that one!

Oh, I never thought of that! I bet that was it too. I've placed ads before, also, and called them in, but never have had miss spelling. Although, it's never been for a dog breed either. lol! The only explaination I have for the hand written one, was that it easilly could've been the owner's son or daughter who wrote it, but you'd think they'd check the spelling before putting the signs up right? Unless they, too were bad spellers. lol! :D

Malamar

:( well I do not know if it its a breed or not. But i just turned in a beautiful big boy to Caddo animal shelter; and guess what he was a Malamar! I thought he was some freaky german shepard mix. He was BIG and beautiful. I will think of him when I hear of the Malamar breed, real breed or not.

It's Malinois, not Malamar. Same as "Rockwilders" are really "Rottweilers". Some people just can't either spell or were told wrong by people who can't spell or have no actual idea what their dog is or was.

The other day I was at Petsmart and this woman had a chihuahua puppy in her arms and I told her how cute I thought it was. Her husband informed me that was "her" dog and that he had a german rockwaller. I humored him but jeez, learn your breed! They probably had a chiwawa too.

I did up a sign when i was about 7 for some puppies my dog had. My dad put it up in our front yard it read; Free puppies 50 cents each. I sold all 9 of them.(hehe). I remember people asking if they were free and I'd say yes but if you want to give me 50 cents my dad says that would be ok.

thats kind of sad. any old person could have come along and purchased one. I would be nervous where they were going to and if the person who took them as enough sense to spay and neuter them. I hope you got your girl spayed.

Jeeez. People who don't even have a basic education... should NOT be breeding dogs! D= IMO, if you are breeding a breed of dog, you should be an expert on the breed. If you don't know how to spell the breed, or don't even double-check to make sure it's spelled correctly, you have no business owning or breeding those dogs.

There are some disturbing typos in the pet classifieds, all the time. "Spaded", "Newturd", "Datsuns", "Dalmations", "Pittbulls", "Rhode Island Ridgebacks", "Boarder Colleys"... etc. I would NEVER look in the paper for a dog, anyway, unless it was rescued. The vast majority of those breeders are BYBs or Puppy Mills, vassstttt.

It would be awesome if "blue healers" were real. I think a dog with that ability would be pretty useful.

LOL, at least when people say Blue Heeler they are using a common nickname for ACDs and not just jacking up a breed name like RockWilder :lol-sign:

Blue Heeler or Queensland Heeler are two of the names that ACDs are known by...........really don't know the history behind it or why though :)

Is it this dog? http://www.caddopets.com/showAdoption.cfm?id=97

And who dubbed him "Malamar"....

And why does it sound like you're bragging for turning him into a shelter?
