Hawkeye had a great day at Search and Rescue training today. We had a 3/4ths of a mile track to work. He found the scent article that was dropped at about halfway into the search and about 8 minutes later we found the "victim"! This video shows the last 6 and a half minutes of the track, the total time spent on the track was about 18 minutes.

Love seeing vid! I noticed that he just stayed with the "victim" - when I did SAR we always had the dogs do refinds, so I'm curious why he's trained to stay with the person.

He's a trailing dog so I always stay with him, and he trails the footsteps left behind by the lost person and finds their direction of travil. Air scent dogs that range off leash and search broad areas for a "hot scent" are the ones often trained for refined or bark and hold.
