Send her here! I love Penny!

They do not fit the coat requirement here even a little :p And I've met too many DR aussies, and aussies that cannot STFU!

Yes!! LOL! I wanted to see if there was anything that could fit my personality wants AND coat wants. Take away the coat aspect and I can find many. Siri's coat is just so stinking easy!

Also :rofl1::rofl1: Borzoi porn.

You should come up here so I can meet Mira ;) I really do like the retrievers that belong to dog people (not so much in the hands of JQP), and I've always said that Ryan would adore a retriever. I would adore a retriever. Ryan LOVES Flatcoats. I haven't met very many though. There is one who is sometimes around here doing obedience, and I love love love watching him work. But again, must gain more of a sample.

ETA: I also think that the terrier/retriever mix would be a nice, even one. Since I will own more terriers (though only ever one at a time, because I'm only mostly crazy, not completely apesh!t crazy :p), and I don't care for the crazy terrier/sharp herder mixture.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I've always really liked the sporting pointers (GSP/Viszla/Weim, etc.) and they are definitely energetic! I've met a couple DR GSP, which gives me more pause with them. I adore the look of weims, but most that I have met seem to be anxious messes? There is one around here who does obedience and he seems like a very stable, nice dog. I abhor his owner though, (despise might be a better word?) so I haven't asked where he is from or anything. I know he is show line though.
I am late to this and haven't read through the whole thing (I have been away all weekend and haven't had as much of a chance to check the forums). But what about a sport bred BC or aussie? most of the disc dogs I know are sport bred BC's and aussies.

Of course ACDs make great disc dogs too :D

Yes, You're right. My suggestions didn't fit you're coat criteria at all. What about a Welsh Springer? They have some hair but fairly minimal. I've met a couple and they are nice, nice dogs. I know from Elrowhen that there can be some nervousness in the breed but that breeders are breeding away from that. You should PM Elrowhen.

I'm wondering if it might depend on the area because while I've had VERY good and bad experiences with both Weims and GSPs (as in, incredibly split experiences - from "this is one of the best dogs I've ever met" to "nooo thanks!"), I don't think I've ever met what I would consider a "good" Vizsla. Which is incredibly unfortunate, but the ones I've met have all been pushy, hyperactive and spinny. It's sad. I think I need to meet a Penny!!

I really like the way that springers (both Welsh and English!) look, and they're super happy. But after being around all 3 of Megan's springers...they're just not my think. I love that she has them, cause I get to spend time with them. But I just don't see myself with them. I even told her that I could totally foster for springer rescue purely because I know I wouldn't keep one!

If I ever own another herding breed it will be a rescue that I have fostered, and know that I can live with. Which is a distinct possibility, but no herders from breeders here. :)

Get a Fergus.

He has long legs so Siri will love him and he's crazy for the disc.

But, you can't have mine so get your own.

I'm surprised there's only been one vote for an ABPT (or pit bull type dog). The only thing on there that doesn't fit is the tendency toward dog aggression, but it's also stated that the dog reactivity isn't that big a deal (and it's certainly possible it will never be an issue). They're not known for agility/disc/rally, but there are certainly ones who do it well (and the gun dogs suggested aren't really known for it either). So APBT/AmStaff would be my vote ;)

She has small animals, which is why I didn't suggest it.

HAH! I also have Siri + rats right now :p

The small guys don't factor in too much, as I can just crate when they come out. And I have very specific rules for dogs that live here and what is/isn't allowed with the rats.

That is sad but I can also totally see how that would happen. I met two that were total basket cases. And they were owned by people who weren't total idiots with dogs. They had owned GSPs beforehand and moved to Vizslas and couldn't figure out why they had sociopaths for pets. I don't know if it was breeding, lack of training an appropriate off switch or what but both dogs came from the same shady breeder. Thinking it has something to do with that?

PS- be careful what you wish for, Siri May have a sister waiting for her on her doorstep as an Easter surprise ahahah
