I like that your exploring different perspectives. I think that takes a photo from boring to interesting really fast.
Contrast too, a rough against a smooth, a dark against a light, rough against a smooth,any kind of difference will play off of each other. Keep up the good work.

Took me a second to figure out the horseshoe. Nice ringer. I would crop that, and take out as much of the background as possible. IT's distracting.
