Tips for Building Toy Drive

I want Glitch to have better toy drive then He definitely has a favorite toy, his plush Pterocuda. He is very excited to get his Pterocuda and plays with it whenever I bring it out. I keep the toy up when we aren't actively working with it, so it will be fresh and exiting when I do pull it out. We do flirt pole, fetch and tug with it, and he likes all of those activities.

However, as a reward, it's a no-go. I try and offer it, and he just stare at me like 'where's the treat, stupid?'.

What can I do to make the toy as rewarding as food, or really rewarding at all? He's so smart and so eager when I reward with food that I don't want to do anything to mess that up.

Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's the only toy I've found my food-motivated Whippet will interact with when training.
