Cool pictures! Your dogs are so cute! Why do you have to keep the BC on a leash when herding?

The instructor kept a long line on him so she could keep some distance between them. He's still a puppy... When he gets older she will use the paddle. She said it makes the sheep feel more comfortable knowing she will protect them from the "wolf"
