Eating dirt???

We are getting a new patio put in outside and so there is a bunch of dirt dug up. Daisy has started eating the dirt! Our dirt here is red, sometimes its called "Virginia Clay". Should I be worried?

Middie likes eating it, too.....

our murphy eats dirt. i'm not sure why. doesn't seem to harm her any.
