I was wondering... It seems like most showdog labs are from the English lines (smaller more compact). Is this true or just a myth. Can American lines (the lankier sleeker looking) labs be champs in the show ring?

I'm not too familiar with show labs, but if they are like Goldens in the ring , they tend to be what the judges are looking for at the time. Goldens have gone from their natural color to very blond ( English breeding} and the last show I went to the more natural golden color. The legs have still gotten short ( which I don't like ) ...their gate less normal and I HATE the blunt clip of the tail hairs !!! If you plan to seriously show, you'll have to buy from a show breeder and expect to spend into the thousands.... otherwise, go rescue/shelters/ etc and get a loving friend who loves you.

Then go to a dog show , check both out and when you decide talk to a show breeder.
