This may have been posted already and I missed it, but this was interesting.

http://www.flashreport.org/blog/2014/07/09/humane-society-charity-rating-revoked/

HSUS has had its charity rating revoked and is now has a donor advisory warning attached to it.

Only 1% of budget goes to animal shelters and millions pour in every other direction except to the animals. Hardly surprising. If find a lot of the big name charities to be nothing more than a way to put some serious cash in a lot of people's pockets

That is because the HSUS is not a rescue group but an advocacy group.

I'm tired of seeing a legitimate organization attacked by conspiracy theorists sponsored by big industry opponents of animal welfare. The group "Humane Watch" is run by a lobbyist who has done this to other legitimate charities before.

The HSUS's funds? Look for yourself.

If you think that putting every single penny directly into shelters will solve every problem, then you're not being realistic. We cannot rescue our way out of animal abuse; we must have laws in place to prevent abuse from happening in the first place. The HSUS is the most effective organization to get that done, and buying into and helping spread propaganda put out by paid attackers is NOT going to help animals at all.

Then if they're an advocacy group, they should have absolutely not have "charity" status.

Thank you for making that clear. That should also make it clear in their tear jerking commercials that most money goes to hedge funds, marketing, and employee pockets and not to the animals themselves

:)

They aren't a legitimate Charity and shouldn't be posing as one. They are at best, a lobbying group themselves.

it is already illegal in every state to abuse animals, what additional laws do we need? like a ban on ALL animal ownership, both pet and livestock (Wayne Pacelle has said that was his end goal when he worked for PETA). IF you own an animal and support HSUS you are opposing yourself.
