I stopped slowing down! I just ran full speed towards the weaves, and she dove in and took 'em!

Wish I had realized that's what I was doing months and months ago, but better late than never :)
This is what my trainer is always telling me to do. "Stop babysitting. Trust her. Just RUN!" And he's always right too gosh darnit!

Glad it was a simple fix for you and Lucy!

Lucy wove in a trial, Lucy wove in a trial :D

This has been a loooooong road. We've had good days, days I could get it if I "fixed" them mid course, and days where she dramatically avoided them. We haven't had consistent weaves in a long time.

Finally, I asked my trainer and she commented that I slowed way down before weaves. "Well yeah, to help guide her in." "It's confusing the heck out of her, stop!"

Suddenly, we hit them all. NADAC Weavers courses have 3 sets of weaves. We ran two of those today, and hit all 6 sets perfectly first time through. YAYYYYYYY.

We're supposed to go back tomorrow but I did something (pulled a muscle?) and can't lift my right leg without shooting pain through my butt. Fantastic. Tomorrow might be a couch day.
Hooray! So glad it was an 'easy' fix on your part! :)

Just got back from working at the park with Siri. We don't get to go out that much and work anymore because it's dark by the time I leave work most days, I can get so much more done when I have so much more space!

We worked on front crosses at a distance, which she did awesome with. I need to do more handling sans Siri with the rear crosses, I get myself confused and she just kinda stares at me. I have to set her up, and then think about how it's going to work before moving, and she's not always that patient. We got a couple really nice rear crosses though, and she certainly tries to understand what I want!

I spent most of the time just playing ball with her, and then intermittently asking her to work for me. For the most part it went really well, but there were times when I would ask her to drop the ball and work (I had another ball in my hand) and she would make a half-assed attempt and then run back to her free ball. Switched it up and worked with only one ball, practiced walking up to her and taking the ball, sometimes I would walk up to her and just give her treats and walk away.

I worked on asking her to come and jump in my arms, then releasing her back to her ball. Walked up to her, did collar grabs, then threw a new ball. I figure there can never be too much of that right now, I do not want to end up with a dog that takes the ball and runs away, or who I can't catch at the end of the run.

I wish I had remembered my phone to take at least a couple crappy videos, of course I did not.

Today Ryan got me some planks from Home Depot so I can really start hitting the contact training :D

Yay Siri :) Sounds like you guys are having lots of fun with it all& that's pretty much the key part of it!

Of course I have video of the red dog ..I don't have any video of our Gamblers run so that sort of stinks& I haven't uploaded the steeplechase run yet but here is our 23 second jumpers :)

I love it! Though I do have on professional suggestion, you should spray paint her pink when working in a barn on dirt :rofl1: She blends right in! :p

She looks like she's having a blast. Go Penny!!

I am having so much fun with her. I know we are behind in training, and that we're probably still moving along slowly. But I'm having a whole lot of fun, and she sure seems to be as well! I'm in no hurry to compete, I know it's going to be quite a while, and this stuff is fun anyway!

If I was more competitive she might frustrate me with some of her antics, instead I think she gets more frustrated by me than I do her :lol-sign:

Congrats to everyone on their recent success!

I also had a bit of an agility win yesterday. I had my first day of houseleague. It's probably the first bit of agility I've done in weeks, and I've not been in regular classes for... jeez... a long time now. A year? Cohen was so fun and fast I couldn't believe it. She was just on fire. And she was SO GOOD.

First run was a standard run. Cohen did the full set of 12 weaves (no 10th pole pop-outs) on her first try, at speed. And, she only knocked ONE bar. Blew my mind, considering all our bar knocking woes up until this point. The knocked bar was on a tight turn which I knew was going to be a problem going in, so I don't feel too badly about it.

Second run was a gamblers. Send over frame, call back over jump, send over jump into tunnel then call back over jump. She made it look easy. Success. (No knocked bars!)

The last run was a fun run similar to a steeplechase. Fast, with minimal handling requirements. The basic jist of the course was to run it as fast as you could, and when you got to the end of it, run it in reverse back to the start, then back to the end, then back... To try to get as far as you could in 60 seconds. Cohen was lovely. She went further, cleaner and faster than any other dog, and there was some pretty stiff competition there. (Also, no knocked bars!)

That's ONE knocked bar all day. I couldn't be happier with her right now. People were laughing at how she goes through the weaves. She basically bulldozes right through them. High head, tiny steps and she parts them with her face. Not exactly ideal, but FAST!

I am thinking spray painting her is probably the way to go ..she really does match the dirt, doesn't she?!!

Penny looks awesome!! What do you mean nothing amazing?! She looks great!!
And I am (sometimes) too hard on myself about Penny. I was so busy being told she'd never make an agility dog that I feel like we have something to prove! Granted, we are slowly proving it. Wait for her debut at 18months!

Congrats, Cohen& you :) I agree.. video, please!

Penny looks awesome for only sixteen months, you're doing an amazing job with her. Don't be hard on yourselves, you clearly don't have to worry. :)

Bag two weeks of nothing. Last week trainer had to take her dog to a specialist (vet stuff) then this weekend was icy most the time (no indoor facility). And today I decide to step on a razor, sending me to the urgent care and making my foot incredibly sore. There's no way I can run on this thing. :(. I'm bummed pretty bad.

Aw thanks so much :)

Penny looked like she was having a lot of fun! :)

You don't need to spray paint her. Just buy her those high visibility leg bands that people use for jogging! :rofl1:
Penny definitely always has fun ..I think her life motto is 'THISISFUN.'
And that is actually sort of a hilarious& brilliant idea that I should have done!!
