Ok so pliers and a matt breaker are going in my car now.

My fingers are sore today from pulling those out of her coat. I bet she had 30+ and she's such a small dog....

The pliers trick is something I learned from Setter people. Apparently once you crush them with the pliers, the tiny hooks disintegrate into little pieces of plant matter and cease to "pull" - then it's just like brushing out dead leaves. To make it even easier, apply Cowboy Magic on the affected area and the burrs just slide out, with minimal to no damage to the coat.
If you don't have Cowboy Magic handy, baby oil gel is a good substitute. with the horses, I eventually just switched to the gel, but I love the smell of Cowboy Magic.

Oh, poor Mia! :( At least it will eventually grow back.

Glad I read this for the pliers trick.... I've gotten them things in MY hair before!!!!!
