So Venice was diagnosed with marijuana toxicity today - her birthday prezzie to me.
I walked her offleash at a spot nearby, it's out in the bush and pretty out of the way. A couple times she ran out of sight but always came back quickly when I called. We hung out with my friend for a bit and headed home. Towards the end of the walk I noticed she was dripping urine, which I thought was really odd. A couple minutes later, I noticed she had a bit of an unsteady gait and was swaying whenever she stopped to sniff.
Got home, took her temperature (normal). She was standing stiffly with her legs braced, head wobbling, and looking like she had trouble keeping her balance. Couldn't get an appt at our normal clinic so we drove to the e-vet. She was having trouble staying awake in the car and still dribbling urine. Terrified me.
We didn't do the actual test for THC toxicity but supposedly all her symptoms were pointing to it. Her pulse was strong and regular, temperature normal, and she was responding well to neurological stimulation so we took her home to rest. She's feeling better, but still sluggish and wanting to rest.
Anybody experienced this before? We have no weed in the house, so she must have picked it up outside. I don't think someone would have dropped buds way out there in the bush. We've had dogs in the clinic I used to work at that would get into brownies or that type of thing, but I don't think she would have found brownies way out in the bush like that.
The place seems like a likely spot to grow marijuana but have you ever heard of a dog actually eating the growing plant?
