Gimmick was microchipped back in December or January, not sure which. I was petting him last night, and I can feel the chip right beneath the skin on his shoulderblades. It's not attached to anything and I think it will continue to scoot around in there.

Should I be worried? I know that whippets don't have much fat to anchor the chip, but this one is so close to his skin that I'm worried it might come right through.

Both of mine have easily felt and mobile chips, never had a problem. They haven't relocated too far, but aren't directly between the shoulder blades by any means.

I wouldn't be worried. Most chips feel that way on thinner-skinned/short haired dogs/cats. My little dog was the same way.

and most chips move... I would just keep checking when you go to the vet that it hasn't come out/migrated too far.
