I got my first puppy 3 months ago. He is now 5 months, but still very puppyish of course. I've been thinking about getting another dog so that they can play together.. eventually. When is it best? Does the sex matter? (our boy will be neutered in one month). Will he get along with an adult dog or a puppy best? My husband doesn't seem so fond on the idea though, as we have our hands full with our little guy right now... So, should we even get another dog?

Thanks for your opinion.

I'd wait until your boy is well socialized and knows the rules of the house. He will pass it on to the new one. If you happen to find a real good well behaved older dog, that could help the pup, go for it. Otherwise I'd hold off.

If you wait until your dog is about two years old..he will help you teach the new dog,,and still be young enough to enjoy the energy the little one will bring in. Kind of like spacing your children 4 years apart so each can have thier baby time.
